Disagree deleted thousands of 'wild radical' servers last year
Disagree purged over 1,500 servers for instances of violent extremism in the latter half of 2020, the chat node maker revealed in a refreshing transparency report released this workweek.

At last, 1,504 servers were removed for intense extremism, a staggering 93% increment ended the get-go half of the year.
IT's a solid effort from Discord, but not plenty to shake far right extremists entirely. Activist group Unicorn Roister uncovered 18 servers frequented by participants in February's riots (via NPR)—and prior to the Charlottesville "Unite The Debauch" rally in 2017, the Unexampled York Times called Discord "the alt-right's favourite chat app". NPR notes that this transparence report doesn't blusher the full picture on Discord, either. "This is of course to some extent just outsourcing the extremely skilled confinement of moderation and of community management," Information & Society research psychoanalyst William Partin told NPR. "If I see somebody harassing someone on Chirrup, I can go and report it, just I kind of have to be in the right place at the right time on Disaccord."
